WORLD VINTAGE RUGBY CARNIVAL
September 14 - 20 2008, Christchurch, New Zealand.

CARNIVAL PROGRAMME AND PRICES

The official programme for the 2008 World Vintage Rugby Carnival includes:

Six days of fun and enjoyment playing your favourite sport:

Sunday September 14 – teams arrive in Christchurch and will be met and transferred to their selected accommodation. Later in the day the Opening Ceremony will include a parade of teams walking through the city to the Welcome Party with a Maori Welcome, speeches of welcome and continuous music and entertainment, a substantial finger food buffet, three hours of unlimited beer, wine and soft drinks - all in the company of good rugby friends. Transfers will be provided to and from the function.
Monday September 15
– teams will be transferred to the 3 host clubs for the first round of games. Refreshments will be available throughout the day and special areas will be setup for post match hospitality. The clubs will be arranging evening meals and continuous entertainment.
Tuesday September 16 -  today is a complete day at leisure to explore the many interesting sights and experiences that Christchurch and the Canterbury region has to offer. The evening is free to explore Christchurch nightlife or to enjoy some of the special Rugby events that will be available.
Wednesday September 17 - the second round of games. The clubs will be arranging evening meals and continuous entertainment.
Thursday September 18 – another free day to explore Christchurch or to start ticking off that shopping list. The evening is free to explore Christchurch cafes and pubs.
Friday September 19 – the final round of games. Early evening buses will transfer teams to the Grand Finale Dine and Dance function. It will be a fantastic night to remember, featuring awards, non-stop entertainment, great music, a table-served 3-course meal and continuous beer, wine and soft drinks.
Saturday September 20 – its time to say farewell to Christchurch and all your friends – until the 2010 World Vintage Rugby Carnival. Buses will transfer all groups to their point of departure for onward travel.

A programme of special activities is being planned for partners who might not want to go to all the games – shopping excursions, organised walks and visits to interesting places in Christchurch will be included and details will be sent to teams.

Costs....
There are four Carnival ground package categories .
(all costs are in New Zealand dollars and are per person for the period of the Carnival).:

 Carnival package prices include:

  • Six nights accommodation in the category of your choice on a twin, double, triple or quadruple and multi (6) share basis.
  • Cooked breakfast in Gold and Silver packages; Continental breakfast in Bronze and Value packages.
  • Meet and greet on arrival in Christchurch and assistance at the airport.
  • A welcome kit in each room with a Carnival Guide, city maps, discount shopping vouchers and travel guide.
  • Transfers on arrival and departure from Christchurch Airport, to and from both social functions, the Team Manager’s meeting and the playing venues on the 3 playing days.
  • A quality 2008 World Vintage Rugby Carnival souvenir.
  • A 3-hour Cocktail Party to include traditional New Zealand entertainment, dancing, unlimited wine, beer and soft drinks and a substantial finger food buffet.
  • A 5-hour final Dine and Dance function to include entertainment, unlimited wine, beer and soft drinks and a table served 3 course meal.
  • Local service charges and taxes.

Carnival package prices do not include meals and drinks (other than breakfasts as listed above at your hotel and the two social functions), airfares or airport departure taxes, pre and post tours, personal items such as phone calls, internet charges, medical insurance and laundry etc or additional taxes that may be effective at the time of the Carnival.

Full details including deposit deadlines, cancellation and refund rules and other information about the Carnival and Christchurch will be sent to teams as entries are received.

LOCAL TEAM'S PACKAGE....
Players living further north from Christchurch than Kaikoura and further south than Timaru must purchase one of the official 2008 Carnival accommodation packages. Full details are on the website: Packages Details>>
Teams originating from inside this area who do not require accommodation or transport will be able to purchase a local package, details of which have been confirmed by the Carnival organizers.

The cost of the local package is NZ$340 per person and this includes:

  • A quality exclusive 2008 World Vintage Rugby Carnival souvenir
    item.
  • The official opening ceremony and parade.
  • The 3-hour Cocktail Party (at an exclusive venue specially setup for the party) will include top class entertainment, dancing, unlimited (continuous) wine, beer and soft drinks and a substantial finger food buffet.
  • The 5-hour final Dine and Dance function (at an exclusive venue specially decorated and themed for the finale function) will include entertainment, dancing, unlimited (continuous) wine, beer and soft drinks and a table served 3 course meal.
  • A personal 'Players Guide' to the 3rd World Vintage Rugby Carnival
  • Carnival identification/registration passes.
  • GST

Teams will be advised as entries are received about the payment for the local packages.

Travel....
Teams are encouraged to make travel arrangements as soon as conveniently possible. There is no requirement to use particular airlines but the Vintage Rugby Office will be suggesting ‘preferred’ Carnival airlines to teams as entries are received. The Carnival obviously provides the ideal opportunity to use all those valuable air points that team members may have accrued.

All prices in New Zealand dollars....
The package prices are all quoted in New Zealand dollars. For an indication of the costs in other currencies use the online currency converter. The cost provided by the converter will only be indicative as the actual cost will be determined by the exchange rates at the time team payments are processed into New Zealand dollars.

Accommodation requests....
The organizers will endeavour to meet specific requests for accommodation depending on the availability of rooms at the time of the request. All accommodation will be allocated on a first come first served basis and only confirmed when the required deposits have been received.
