These endless mass of cascading waters are beholding to no-one but for the
Creator himself.

on, it is hypnotic!

refreshing, but compellingly whimsical & alluring.
The
earth falls away into an abyss in a swirl of spray – you are here finally on
the very cusp at Iguazú Falls.
For 745 miles the Rio Iguazú winds across southern Brazil from its
headwaters in the Serra do Mar, taking in countless tributaries, jumping
through the choreography of its 70 other waterfalls, building momentum for
this moment……..this leap of nature’s faith into the chasm.
To the Guaraní Indians for centuries before Europeans first set foot on this
Continent, Iguazu was spoken of in reverence as simply, " the great water."
Taller than Niagara Falls, wider by half again than Victoria Falls, the
greatness of Iguazú is not in its height, but is in its sheer immensity.
During the rainy season, the lip of its two-and-a-half-mile crescent-shaped
cliff is strung with ribbons of water like the strings of some immense harp.
Some 275 cascades pour off the plateau & disappear into the gorge.
Some plummet straight down 269-foot drops in unbroken plumes. Others dance
their way down in glittering steps. Where the falls are broken by ledges,
the torrent explodes into spray cloaking the gorge in an eternal mist that
spawns thousands of rainbows arcing across the countless faces of each
cliff.
Iguazú is the beating heart of two national parks, one in Argentina & the
other belonging to Brazil.
On the Argentine side (which are by are & away the best for adventure
seekers to come up-close & personal with this awesome natural wonder)
visitors are offered a labyrinth of metal catwalks above the falls &
pathways at river level that lead you to dozens of angles to view &
photograph the falls. Each step, each curve presents yet another Kodak
moment.
There is an ongoing dance; a kaleidoscope of ever-changing prism-like colour
cards, switching between rock & water & light.
The air vibrates with sound. The forest drips. The rocks...drip. A fine net
of mist drifts lightly against your face, your nose, it caresses your
cheeks. Lick your lips. Taste the falls. Ponder the abyss.
Then
get adventuresome & embark upon a day of different adventures in jungle 4x4
vehicles, rubber zodiac styled boats professional manoeuvred downstream well
above the falls themselves by local oarsmen to give visitors a natural
perspective at river level of flora & fauna & finally, a spine tingling,
dash in the ultimate power boat up the river, through the surging rapids &
into the San Martin valley under the Tres Mosquiteros & San Martin falls for
the single most awesome display of natures water power imaginable.
