Carnival Programme
A full programme has been designed to allow players, their wives and partners, referees and supporters to explore all that the Western Cape has to offer. Wild Life, Beaches, Walks, Wineries and the colourful Cape people are all waiting to make your stay an unforgettable experience.
Seven days of fun and enjoyment playing your favourite sport
Sunday August 29 - teams arrive in Cape Town and will be met and transferred to their selected accommodation. Mid-afternoon managers will be transferred to the Manager’s Briefing meeting. Later in the day teams will be transferred to the Opening Ceremony which will include a parade of teams walking through the city to the Welcome Party beside the Waterfront. The function will include 3-hours of continuous music and entertainment, a substantial finger food buffet, unlimited local beers, wine and soft drinks and the first opportunity to mix and mingle, greet old friends and make new ones. After the function teams will be transferred back to their accommodation to enjoy the local restaurants and pubs. 
Monday August 30 - teams will be transferred to Wynberg Boys' High School for the first round of games. Refreshments will be available throughout the day and special areas will be setup for post match hospitality and entertainment. Early evening teams will be transferred back to their accommodation.
Tuesday August 31 - today is a complete day at leisure to sample some of the delights that Cape Town and the Western Cape have to offer. The organisers are preparing a range of tours and excursions that will be available to visiting teams and their supporters. Evening at leisure to explore Cape Town’s nightlife.
Wednesday September 1 - teams will be transferred to Wynberg Boys' High School for the second round of games. Refreshments will be available throughout the day and special areas will be setup for post match hospitality and entertainment. Early evening teams will be transferred back to their accommodation.
Thursday September 2 - BIG DAY OUT – a special day for the teams who elect to take up the option of The Cape Carnival ‘Big Day Out’ featuring a visit to the Spier Estate in the Western Cape’s famous Winelands region. Download the Big Day Out Leaflet for details. Evening is at leisure.
Friday September 3 – teams will be transferred to Wynberg Boys' High School for the final round of games. Refreshments will be available throughout the day and special areas will be setup for post match hospitality and entertainment. Evening at leisure.
Saturday September 4 – another free day to explore Cape Town or to finalise last minute shopping. Early evening teams will be transferred to the Grand Finale Dine and Dance function. It will be a fantastic night to remember a great week, featuring awards, non-stop entertainment, great music, a table-served 3-course meal and continuous beer, wine and soft drinks and a minimum of formalities.
Sunday September 5 - its time to say farewell to Cape Town and all your friends – until the 2012 World Vintage Rugby Carnival. Buses will transfer all groups to their point of departure for onward travel.
A programme of special activities is being planned for partners who might not want to go to all the games – shopping excursions, organised walks and visits to interesting places in Cape Town will be included and details will be sent to teams.
